Worktop templating

We will  rrange a suitable time to visit you in order to attend to the worktop templating the required area to be covered.

This visit to you will also allow us to see physically how you wish the whole kitchen to look like. In order for the worktop templating to take place, we would require the walls to be plastered, but not tiled, all work top gadgets to be removed as any other items normally on the area. To get accurate measurements at the work top templating stage, we would also need the hob, sink and taps to be removed, thus giving us accurate cut-out measurements as well. During the work top templating, our surveyor / designer will discuss and agree with you the technical points that relate directly to your individual worktops. We shall also give you our expert advice and work together with you to arrive at the ultimate unique result. The worktop templating is vital as the stone slabs are cut accordingly.

Having templated the area in question, we would then ask you to check the details with us and sign the actual template.

Templating Conditions

In order for us to process and manufacture projects as efficiently and accurately as possible, it is essential the following points are carried out prior to us templating on site.

All surfaces/carcasses to be templated must be complete, flat and level. The finish of the worktops can only be as good as the level of the units supporting them.

We accept no liability for problems caused, additions or alterations to the furniture or appliances etc. after the templating has taken place.

If replacing existing worktops, these must be removed first. This allows the carcasses to be viewed and assessed and advice can then be given if any additional work needs to be carried out before the new worktops can be fixed.

Gas or electric hobs must be disconnected but available on site.

Belfast/butler sinks must be fixed in position before we can template.

Under mounted sinks must be on site at the template stage, If we are templating and fitting your worktops we will fit the under mounted sink at the fitting stage

Inset sinks and taps must be disconnected but available on site.

Any units to be fitted directly on top of the worktops must be fitted 24 hours after the worktops (recommended) or on adjustable wall brackets to give adequate clearance. It is not acceptable to leave a gap and expect to slide the worktops under.

If any walls around the worktops are to be plastered or altered in any way they must be done either before templating or after fitting the worktops.

We would request that you or a trusted representative be present during templating to agree all relevant details such as overhang, joints and height of splash backs etc. Advice can also be given at this point with regard to any alterations and/or additional work that would need to be carried out before the new worktops can be fitted.

Unless specified, we reserve the right to use our own judgment regarding all overhangs but accept no responsibility if these are later found to be unacceptable.

If any of the above conditions are not met, we will use our best endeavours to template but take no responsibility for fitting or misinterpretations.

Where templates are supplied to us by you they must be to actual finished size. All requirements must be clearly marked on the template including edges to be polished, position of tap holes, splash backs with correct polished edges etc.

All joint positions must be clearly marked -GRANITE JOINT- (Material constraints permitting). All internal cut-outs (hobs, sinks and hand wash basins etc) must be cut out accurately and separate templates from the manufacturer supplied. All templates must be numbered i.e. 1of 7 , 2of 7 etc.

Pre-templating check list

For Granite Worktops London Ltd to provide a high quality worktops, we require clients to prepare the kitchen according to check list below. We advise you to confirm with your kitchen fitters or builders involved in your project to arrange a templating date.

PLEASE READ AND CHECK CAREFULLY THAT EVERYTHING COVERED BY THIS INSTRUCTION HAS BEEN COMPLETED.

1.We require the client or person responsible for the project to be on site to discuss and confirm details and personal preferences such as where joints, cut-out positions, tap holes, overhangs, up-stands, window sills and pipe boxes should be, and if there are any additional issues to decide.

2. Worktop areas should be completely cleared to allow us to lay the templating material.

3. Base units and any breakfast bars/islands must be ready, levelled and securely fitted. (use a 2.5m spirit level not 60cm) - End panels and any decorative extensions and finishings need to be fitted in place. -Wall units and extractor should be fitted in place where a hob splash back is a requirement.

4.Temporary worktops, hobs, top mounted sinks, taps and other objects should not be installed as they can delay and cause problems during templating. -Sinks, taps and hobs should be onsite, but not fitted or connected. - Please advise us if existing old kitchen.

5.Construction - Walls need to be plastered and squared but not tiled - Existing kitchen worktops, appliances and wall tiles should be removed - Supporting battens should be fitted behind appliances, sinks and hobs and any weak points. - Boxing for pipe work should be ready, leaving a gap of 50mm from the top of the base units to the boxing.

6. Electric points should be at the right height. (allow a minimum gap of 150mm from the base unit to electric points for 30mm worktops with up-stand of 100mm).

7. Worktops are very heavy (150kg- 200kg) - Advise the office of access, parking or other restrictions to the property and if you can supply us with temporary parking permits. - Advise the office if there is a lift for installations for above/below ground floor fittings.

Until you can comply with the above points, your kitchen is not ready for templating
